Delaware has more than 5,000 miles of roadways packed into its 2,000 square miles. If you live in the Small Wonder state, USAA offers a combination of coverage and service suited for Delawareans. Whether you're sauntering along the shore or driving toward the DuPont Estates, USAA can be there for you.
There are many things involved in determining auto insurance rates. How many miles you drive a year and your driving record both play a part in how much you'll pay.
As of Jan. 1, 2024, Delaware law requires drivers to have the following minimum bodily injury and property damage liability limits:
This helps cover expenses for the injuries or deaths of others involved in accidents where you're found at fault.
This is the total amount of coverage for expenses related to the injuries or deaths of others involved in accidents where you're found at fault.
This helps pay for damages to other people's property like vehicles, homes and other buildings if you're at fault for an accident.
Unless coverages are rejected by the policyholder, Delaware drivers are required to have uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. These coverages help cover your expenses if you're in an accident caused by a driver who doesn't have insurance or doesn't have enough coverage.
Delaware requires that drivers have PIP coverage. This helps cover medical expenses for you and your passengers, no matter who's at fault in an accident.
Some drivers choose to have higher limits and more coverages for greater protection. If you're responsible for injuries and damage that cost more than your policy will cover, you may have to pay out of pocket.
A popular coverage option is roadside assistance. See note 2 It can help if you're broken down and need a tow. Many drivers also add rental reimbursement. See note 3 It helps cover the cost of a rental car if your vehicle is in the shop for repairs after a covered loss.
If you're making payments to a leasing company or a lender, they may also require you to carry collision and comprehensive coverages. Learn more about the different types of car insurance coverage.
